71% of Agents Didn’t Close a Deal in 2024

It’s no secret that 2024 was a tough year for real estate agents.

According to recent data, 71% of agents didn’t close a single deal.

That’s not just a statistic—it’s a wake-up call for the entire industry.

So, what’s behind this troubling trend, and how can agents turn it around in 2025?

Why So Many Agents Struggled:

  1. Income Inequality Among Agents: The top 30% of agents handled most of the transactions, leaving the majority with little or no business. Many agents struggled to stand out and find clients.

  2. Tough Market Conditions: With low housing inventory and high prices, affordability was a big challenge. Mortgage rates added more pressure, pushing many buyers out of the market.

  3. New Agents at Risk: Almost half of agents who had their first closing in 2022 couldn’t close another deal in 2023. It’s a pattern that’s getting worse, highlighting how difficult it is for newer agents to gain traction.

What Will Make the Difference in 2025?

This isn’t just about working smarter—it’s about working harder, too. Success in 2025 will go to agents who are willing to adapt, innovate, and outwork the competition. Here’s what will set top agents apart:

  • Embracing Innovation: Clients expect modern solutions, like AI tools, virtual property tours, and personalized marketing. Using technology isn’t optional anymore—it’s essential.

  • Focusing on Relationships: In a competitive market, building trust and offering exceptional service is how agents will win repeat business and referrals. People work with agents they trust.

  • Being Resilient: The agents who combine hard work with smart strategies—like targeting underserved markets or using creative marketing techniques—will come out ahead.

  • Picking Up the Phone: While many promise that you can skip calling or follow-ups, great agents know better. Consistent communication—like picking up the phone, following up with past clients, and keeping connections alive—is a tried and true way to grow business.

2024 was a year of hard lessons, but 2025 is full of opportunities for those ready to adapt.

With the right tools, mindset, and effort, agents can overcome these challenges and find success.

đź’ˇReal Estate Agent Road Map for AI (No Jargon, Just Results)

AI is definitely a buzzword. But, it’s a game-changer when broken into clear, actionable steps. Here’s how to approach it—whether you’re just starting out or looking to step up your game:

1. Start Simple: Understand the Basics
Majority of the companies nowadays use AI behind the scenes. There are also lots of AI platform companies that are easy to test and try for any specific task they are designed for. AI tools like ChatGPT can help write emails, write property descriptions, and draft social media posts. Saves time. Improves output. That’s all you need to know to get started.

2. Get Specific: Advanced Prompting
Knowing how to customize your prompts gets better, more precise answers from AI. Want responses to truly sound like you? Fine-tuned prompting ensures the AI works how you need it to. This takes some practise.

3. Elevate Your Marketing with AI
AI can supercharge your marketing efforts—creating visuals, social media graphics, and videos that match your style and messaging.

4. Automate the Right Way
Scheduling tasks, automatic email reply, sending recapped information from one place to another—these can all be automated, but automation works best when tailored to your workflows. With tools like Make, or customized AI agents, you can create personalized work flows.

5. Build Systems That Scale
Once you’ve nailed the basics, it’s time to bring everything together. Custom GPTs and low-code tools allow you to build complete systems—automating lead pipelines, creating tailored client dashboards, or personalizing communication. These systems aren’t just efficient; they’re designed around your business, making them powerful and scalable.

In my opinion, customization is the key when incorporating AI into the real estate business.

Trained Custom GPTs do just that.

If you’re curious about building one for yourself, I can help.
